VITA C 1000 mg is a high-dose vitamin C supplement: 1 tablet provides 1 gram of vitamin C. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, belongs to the group of so-called water-soluble vitamins, i.e. those that cannot be stored in the body but must be regularly obtained through diet. It is found mainly in fresh foods: in certain types of fruit and vegetables such as oranges, strawberries, mandarins, kiwis, lemons, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes and peppers.

Vitamin C performs many important functions in the body. The best known is probably its antioxidant role: it counteracts the damage caused by free radicals, considered one of the main causes of cellular ageing. These harmful molecules accumulate in the body during digestion, when exercising, or due to exposure to hazardous substances such as those found in tobacco smoke or during exposure to radiation, including ultraviolet rays from the sun.
