JOJOBA oil from Colours of Life® is obtained by cold-pressing the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis plant, so that all the bioactive components it contains and consequently its beneficial properties remain intact.
Jojoba oil is widely used in skin care products that exploit its sebum-like characteristics. It is often referred to as 'oil' due to its liquid, transparent and pale yellow nature. In fact, it is the only plant species currently known that synthesises a 'liquid wax': it is not a mixture of triglycerides, typical of vegetable oils, but rather of individual unsaturated fatty acids, mainly oleic acid (30-45%), and alcohols. This composition makes Jojoba oil extremely light, much more like human sebum than an oil, and it is therefore perfectly absorbed into the skin.
It is rich in Vitamin E, a compound with a strong antioxidant action that protects skin cells against oxidation and thus inflammation.
It is used in cases of dry skin, but also in conditions of inflammation, such as atopic dermatitis, and in the case of sensitive skin, even on children's skin. It is able to speed up the healing process and has a mild antiseptic action, and is also useful in formulations for treating acne, psoriasis and skin irritations in general.
