Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin and a co-factor of numerous essential enzymes. 60-70% of the total iron present in our body is stored in hemoglobin.
Hemoglobin is also a myoglobin component. This complex provides muscles with extra energy when facing heavy strain. The insufficient food supply of this precious metal, in addition to physiological or induced losses, calls for its integration to prevent stamina reduction and fatigue, while vitamin C, present in the Iron Plus formula, enhances its absorption. Iron Plus exploits a natural source of vitamin C, Acerola (Malpighia glabra L.), a spontaneous plant of Central and South America, growing especially in Brazil and Puerto Rico. The fruit of this plant, commonly known as the “West Indian cherry” or “the Barbados cherry”, is a 1-2 cm Ø berry and even if it resembles the European cherry, it is sliced inside like a mandarin. Its taste is bitter, due to its high content of vitamin C. In fact, as opposed to oranges that provide 500 to 4.000 ppm vitamin C supply, Acerola can reach up to 16,000 / 172,000 ppm.
Acerola also contains vitamins B6, B1 and A, flavonoids and minerals.
